Satellite

We have just made up a brand new fibreglass volume to go in our range. It's really useful and has four bolt placements.

Crimping action

Our sponsored hero Ned has been busy carving us some shapes ideal for a bit of crimpage action. We have called his signature set the Rising Stars, and each screw-on has a star decal to set it off nicely on the wall.

We have been testing these beauties out on our 45 degree board and they are fairly brutal! This set is also ideal on 90 degree walls for climbers who have just started out and want to work on their crimping technique.

Board?

We have been holed up in our new workshop for the last week armed with saws and drills (and a small pile of broken drill bits) building our new board at one end of it. It is a monster and hopefully we will all be monsters as well soon after a bit of pulling down on it. At 16 feet wide by 13 feet long it is also makes the perfect quality control tool, as we can give all of our new shapes a good beating to check they are good enough to include in our ranges.

Here are a few photos of our progress erecting our new toy.

Here is our workshop before building begins:

And then came the wood:

And then some boards (thanks Gary for lending us your muscles and long limbs):

And a couple of holds:

We have also been busy creating a couple of new ranges, including a screw-on range carved by our very own British Bouldering Champion Ned Feehally. Coming soon!

British Bouldering Champion

Keith Sharples 2008

Slap sponsored hero Ned crushed his way to glory on Sunday at the Ciffhanger event. He beat a strong field in the finals of Jon Partridge, Dave Barrans, Stew Watson, Smith, Gaz Parry, Tom Sugden and Mark Croxall.

As in all great comps it came down to the last problem of the day. Awesome stuff

A sea of volumes!

After several weeks of work our order for 40 Volumes has finally left the slapholds workshop. Here's a sneak preview of the suckers...........

There are 6 different types with more to follow in the future. All have a textured finish and between 3 and 6 bolt-on placements.

Here are a couple of extra shots to wet your appetite

Beast!

A short (very) video from team member Roddy. Looks like the training is paying off! Good luck with the Grindelwald World Cup mate.

Wednesday 21 May 2008

Apart from spending the last week up to our armpits in fibreglass (6 more volumes on the way!!) we have been busy moulding up some new screw-ons for you. We have reshaped our whole range of screw-on feet to improve the screw placement - we hope you like them as much as the last range. The Implausibles are really tiny - probably the smallest holds on the market. We challenge you to find smaller!

cyclone arrives!

well, after a long time waiting in our workshop to be photoshopped, The Cyclone has arrived on our website. The hold was named by James D from Georgia, America, last month in a competition run by Climbing Hold Review. As a prize we shipped him over a Cyclone of his very own. Well done James :)

Here is a photo of it up at his wall in Georgia. He tells us that The Cyclone "kicks serious butt".

Jugsters!

Monster jugs monster jugs monster jugs!
Some of the holds I've made up in the last couple of weeks. I'm still a bit slow with getting the screw on pictures up as I haven't had chance to cast them again...............all the other ones went out on a big order already

Monday 12 May 2008

Features are GO

The last few days have been busy making up our first commercial fibreglass feature, the Big Bug, which is 60cmx50cm, and 25cm high (see photo). We have also been working on six further plugs which will be about a metre long, including between 4 and 6 bolt-on placements. These are going to be made up in the next week. We usually make bespoke fibreglass shapes but have decided to start producing them in bulk following popular demand. All going well this will lead to an order of 40 features for a London wall.

New holds!

I've been busy in the workshop again with some moulding up action. This time some monster jugs to complement our range.

Also finished are 4 new set of screw-ons. After feedaback on our old screw-ons we decided to carve with a rougher texture (to prolong use) and have countersunk the holds a little larger to accomodate all types of screws.

The largest are sort of lunar like hand/foot holds. The mediums are like little nubbins ideal for a steep wall. The small/mediums are angular with good and bad bits.

The small ones are tooooo small to even photo.......ha ha only kidding. They are however as small as you can get with polyurethane (which means pretty damn small). I'm psyched to get them on my board and start training some tension!

More photos when they are all cast and ready to climb on
